In order to bring more innovation into the market place especially during this time of worldwide turmoil within the poultry sector, Kookaburra, whilst still retaining the necessary expertise in cooked chicken meat, have developed processing and recipe ideas by using beef, pork and lamb as additional ranges to the product portfolio.
As well as using cooked chicken breast strips, marinated in a variety of flavours, using natural ingredients, to present such core products of Tikka, Chinese, Cajun, BBQ, Chargrill, Flamed, Italian, Lime and coriander, being added to this range are Rosemary and garlic, Lemon pepper and honey, maple and green chilli flavour profiles.
Presently under development and available are,
Shredded Roasted lamb, plain or flavoured in rich marinades such as Moroccan style.
Lean minced beef, plain or marinated in flavours such as Spicy Tomato.
Lean Steak strips, plain or marinated in flavours such as Applewood Smoke BBQ.
Shredded pork, plain or marinated in premium flavours such as Char Sui.
In keeping with the "Kookaburra" ethos all these innovative products are based on "British" raw materials to ensure quality, provenance and a reduction, wherever possible, in carbon footprint.
With the Scottish NFU predicting that rising feed prices could cause the loss of a third of the EU pig sector, half of the poultry sector, a huge rise in meat imports and the effective end of meat exports the poultry markets worldwide are being fuelled by uncertainty as countries such as China become a major importer of feed, raising concerns that the cost of animal feed in the UK is set to rise by up to 600% making UK poultry growers look to the commercialities of their operations?
This fear is compounded by the reduction in UK self sufficiency in food from 72% in 1996 to the present level of 60% making the UK more reliant on foreign farmers to provide the food needed. This being exacerbated by the increasing amount of meat being consumed by people in China and India, meaning more feed being used for their domestic markets, leading inevitably to less available poultry products for export from these countries with massive populations.
